Have I told you I’m lucky? I’ve been pretty clear with the Universe about what I’m looking for, who I am, and the kind of work I want to produce. She’s delivered. I really love my job, like a lot. All of the lovers we’ve captured over the past year (and the one’s we’ll capture next year) have been perfect. If you’re one of them, I want to say “I love you! I’ve loved working with you, meeting you. I appreciate that you’re playful and kind and very cool, that each of your loves is unique, and that you’re willing to take risks…and giggle through the whole process.”

I feel like I’ve spent the last 48 hours rooting myself for a few upcoming Muskoka weddings (Alex & Nathan, Jon & Charlotte, Lindsey & Jamie, Melissa & Rick-marrying on Saturday, and Pam & Ken-on Sunday). This post in particular I’d like to share with you images of  Lindsey and Jamie who are to be married on August 22, on the beach. They are pretty much awesome. We shot for 4 hours and I was the only one yawning come 2pm (P.S. not out of boredom, oh no…these two have serious stamina!!!). We did it everywhere, so to speak. First the ponies, then the barn, then the field (the first field), then the forest (the first forest), then the gravel pit and the KOMATSU, then another field, then forest at their house, then to train tracks. On top of that they changed for every location.

Just one last thing, the eve prior we spent some time together about to shoot, drinking champagne, dreaming about the wedding, and planning the actual shooting day. It was lovely. Thanks J and L. Here is just a taste of their images, I could keep going…if you’re looking for more take a peek at the slideshow on smugmug.

All of our couples have made my summer! I’m feeling freshly inspired. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Luke {hot portraits}

This is Luke, he is my hottest friend EVER! He’s a personal trainer among other things. We spent an evening on the tracks and on Lake Bernard, shooting for his portfolio. I enjoy Luke so much it was nice to have some time to hang out and chat. Portrait sessions with friends are so enjoyable, there is this well established level of comfort. They know me, the kind of work I produce and already trust what I can do for them. On the flip side, because we’re able to spend so much time dreaming about the images before we shoot I know what they’re looking for. Working with close friends is such a joy. Also, we get to hang out, undistracted, just the two of us. Without further delay here is my boy Luke. Love him.

I should just add that Luke appears to be quite serious and a little angry. The truth is he has the most gentle soul. Between shots we were laughing and swatting mosquitoes.

Alex and Nathan {almost married}

Can I just say, I am so lucky! This season has been incredible not just because of the weather (it’s rained for every wedding) but because I have the most fabulous brides (and grooms too). Yesterday I met with Alex and Nathan at Port Cunnington Lodge in Dwight. They found out about me early this year from a mutual friend (shout out to C. Poch, also recently engaged and super duper lovey dovey). They all live happily in New Zealand…Alex is Canadian and Nathan is a New Zealander. I’ll try to keep this short because their photos are awesome and my writing is not.

I can’t wait for their wedding! October 3, Muskoka, love, and 200 happy people makes for some incredible wedding photography. So yesterday I met with them. We had never met face to face, only Skype to Skype and Gmail to Gmail. We’ve been in contact so many times before it was like we knew each other already. We walked and talked and planned and waited for the rest of Alex’s fam who all cottage and live locally. After about an hour of dreaming on the dock we found her parents and sister…..aaaaaand the family friend who is doing flowers and decor. Although we were all in relativley close proximity to one another I couldn’t quite see the whole group through bushes. I was warned early in our meeting that the “flower lady” is excitable, like really EXCITABLE! I immediately thought of one of our wedding guest, Janie. There is always one, one fabulous, dramatic, excitable guest. For weeks our friends were asking us about Janie. She is my father’s cousin and a close family friend of my husband. I was well prepared to meet the crazy flower lady. As I was chatting up Alex’s sister Michael, I turn to check out the flower lady…I realized it’s Janie! The flower lady is Janie!!!!!!! My fabulous cousin Janie is doing flowers! We both screamed and got all excited. And begin to giggle about how crazy this whole thing was! JANIE. You’ve met Jane in a recent blog post. I photographed a wedding shower in Brampton, she was there. She’s the one who’s mouth I captured wide open toasting the brides. It was once said about Jane, “you haven’t really had a conversation with Jane until she’s made you cry.” Jane is AWESOME and emotional and sentimental and so kind. It was truly a treat to discover another wonderful connection.

Just one more thing…Alex and Nathan are great. Easy to be with (I think we spent 5 hours together talking and shooting?) and very good looking. Funny too. Nathan was pretty much not into pictures. He hates cheese and described to me many levels of cheese photography. I think mine fell under “cheesey sexy model hot” cheese, at least I’d like to believe it does. Nathan rocked it and even began suggesting placement and composition (maybe he just wanted it to be over?!). In any case I loved the entire day. October 3rd will be FANTASTIC!

Amyand Tammy {married}

My husband, Jay and I had the great pleasure of photographing Amy and Tammy’s wedding in Dwight, Ontario this weekend. We first met Amy and Tammy through my cousins, at our cottage one rainy weekend last year. So it was a bitter sweet surprise to found out rain, rain, and more rain was in the forecast.

The Wedding ceremony and reception were held at The Foxwood Resort which is a charming little cottage resort nestled quietly on Lake of Bays in the heart of Muskoka. I shot “photobooth” style for a couple of hours before the ceremony, Jay was incredible…running from one end to the other barely missing a beat. He did a great job capturing some very telling candids. I have to say I could not have done it without him.

The entire wedding day we felt like family. Amy’s dad Jim, the go-to guy made us feel very welcome and all of their guests were wonderfully kind…not to mention beautiful. The day went off without a hitch! Regardless of the drizzle the wedding ceremony was outside on the patio underneath 100 raised umbrellas. We were all thrilled, and proud, and excited to witness this union.

Thanks so much to Amy and Tammy, we loved photographing your wedding!

A thousand shots later, 300 of the best, and just a few of my favourites…here they are.
