A Canadian Photographer

I think I’ve said this before, beautiful women are my favourite to photograph. Nude, clothed, with family, in a wedding dress…I love it. I have to admit though, capturing a body a various states of undress is a phenomenal experience. Our bodies are amazing. The first time I shot a Boudoir session I dove right in so to speak. It was over a year ago in Ottawa, my subject was none too shy…since then I’ve fallen in love with various forms of Boudoir photography.

It’s the bodies, the bodies get me every time. Some bodies are sharp and some are round, others have had babies and some are about to have them. And every single body tells a story. In fact it might not be just the bodies I love so much, but the stories they tell…the stories of it’s travels, who it’s been and especially of how it wants to be in this world.

This beautiful body below was captured a few weekends ago when I hosted The Muskoka Boudoir Weekend. The images we captured of Ms. S in front of the window are my absolute favourite. We enjoyed a private cabin by the lake, professional hair and make-up by Signature Beauty, and all the shooting we could handle in a day.

So here, I celebrate the love I have for my work and the “story-telling bodies” I love so much.

Ah, like a breath of fresh air. Both working with my dear friend Wendy and shooting in this beautiful home. A special thanks to Wendy’s great friend Tracey (I will be painting ALL of my house white next month…not joke). Wendy and I are in the process of building her website, print material, and general online fabulousness. This was one of many yoga shoots we have on the go. Here we focused on mom and baby yoga as well as partnered yoga. In fact she’ll be hosting a Valentine’s Day weekend yoga retreat on the edge of Algonquin Park.

I so look forward to working with Wendy. She continue to challenge and inspire me. Look forward to our next project; Yoga Ed.

Love to you dear Wendy. I look forward to many, many more.

I first met Megan a year ago when both of us attended a workshop in Sudbury. At the time I was working for a little Eco-Retreat centre on the edge of Algonquin Park and she was working for a similar company on Lake Superior. It was just a few month later she told us she was getting married and looking all over the place for the most fantastic place to be married. Megan and Paul knew they were looking for something small, northern, and lakeside for their wedding. I knew immediately the Northridge Inn in Sundridge was the perfect place (one of our favourite locations for weddings, great meals, and a little overnight stay).

This wedding was a gathering from all over the map…Paul, Megan and friends coming south from Wawa and great family and friends from down-under. It was clear to Jay and I from the moment we met Megan and Paul they were a different kind of couple. Both of them so modest and full of excitement about the day…and a great sense of how to make a northern fall wedding day all their own. From the moments Megan practiced her first dance early in the day, to the handmade Thank You gifts, to the felted hiking mice atop their wedding cheese cake (an actual cheese cake). This day was all their own. We loved shooting this wedding and just wish we had a little more time to spend getting to know Megan, Paul, and their families.

We wish you both love and joy for years to come.
