I met Deb earlier this year, we were both pregnant and we’ve been talking about our bellies ever since. We’ve also been planning belly photos for ages. Deb and Martin came to my house just in the midst of our strongest fall colours. We played in the 24 acres of maple trees and then shot a more intimate belly session indoors…of which I can’t share too much as Deb was nude for much of it.

It was an honour capturing these two, there love is dramatic and playful…they’re going to have one lucky little baby. Can’t wait to meet their Mr. Baby Business and shoot a sweet little newborn session.

PS. Might I say that these two are possibly one of the most sexy pregnant couples I’ve ever seen?!

This was such a neat Engagement Session. Although these two are getting married in February  in Toronto they wanted their Engagement Session shot up near North Bay. Paul’s family owns an old Hunting Lodge in Martin River. It’s such a cool place, so much history. After getting just a little bit lost I finally found them at the cabin. Paul’s dad chauffeured us all over the (what seemed to be a very private) lake, giving us lost of opportunity to take advantage of the dramatic weather. I cannot believe I have not yet blogged about Charlotte and Jon’s Port Carling wedding! We shot their wedding back in September (so much back posting still to do). We loved this wedding so much. Sooooo much. Truly, these two young lovers were two of my favourite people to see wed. We witnessed so much love and support between them and their families, it was moving. The kind of love these two must have felt on their wedding day is the kind every young couple should be held by.

We were lucky to have been chosen by them to shoot this weeding. Thank you, Jon and Char.

And P.S. they all danced down the aisle to a sweet Micheal Jackson tune. Check out their video on Facebook!

And P.P.S. Some of these photos require a little explanation…rockin’ out in church to M.J., Riding your bike in a suit with a broken foot, Munching on snacks, in the car, because you’re starving after getting married, Leading an ’80’s workout video with the rest of your table ’cause Jon and Char asked you too, and finally Being utterly embarassed by your big sister’s stories of your love for large soulful women!

Such a great wedding.

I first met Megan a year ago when both of us attended a workshop in Sudbury. At the time I was working for a little Eco-Retreat centre on the edge of Algonquin Park and she was working for a similar company on Lake Superior. It was just a few month later she told us she was getting married and looking all over the place for the most fantastic place to be married. Megan and Paul knew they were looking for something small, northern, and lakeside for their wedding. I knew immediately the Northridge Inn in Sundridge was the perfect place (one of our favourite locations for weddings, great meals, and a little overnight stay).

This wedding was a gathering from all over the map…Paul, Megan and friends coming south from Wawa and great family and friends from down-under. It was clear to Jay and I from the moment we met Megan and Paul they were a different kind of couple. Both of them so modest and full of excitement about the day…and a great sense of how to make a northern fall wedding day all their own. From the moments Megan practiced her first dance early in the day, to the handmade Thank You gifts, to the felted hiking mice atop their wedding cheese cake (an actual cheese cake). This day was all their own. We loved shooting this wedding and just wish we had a little more time to spend getting to know Megan, Paul, and their families.

We wish you both love and joy for years to come.

I recently took a little road trip to Kingston with the purpose of meeting and photographing new borns, Mary Jo and Beatrix. It was wonderful. These perfect little twins are…well perfect. I was lucky enough to spend the night and shoot all day on Monday. Between naps, feedings, and changes were shot for 5 hours. It was a great way to work. Sleepover parties with babies, parents, and great dinners are totally up my alley, FYI.

Thanks Matt and Susan for the visit and the chance to capture these beautiful images. Your babies made my job easy and it was wonderful to finally meet them both.

P.S. This is post one of two…we took a lot of photographs. Stay tuned. To view the entire first half of the album visit smugmug, http://katehood.smugmug.com/Family/Mary-Jo-and-Beatrix
