I can’t even begin to express how much shooting Michael’s engagement session and wedding day (at Lumina Resort on Lake of Bays) means to me. I’ve know her for a few years now and her sister’s wedding (my first of many at Port Cunnington Lodge) was one I shot very early on. She has been a great supporter of mine ever since! And this summer not only am I shooting with Michael and Joel but I’m photographing  one of Michael’s best friends weddings (at Hidden Valley in Huntsville). I’m just so happy to involved in Michael and Joel’s wedding day! I’ve gotten to know so many of the people close to Michael but haven’t had the chance to shoot with her yet (you can imagine my anticipation around shooting these two…those smiles…the pair of them are pretty happy -gorgeous people!). The engagement session was a perfect opportunity. After spending some time hanging out on their couch, chatting about wedding details and outdoor first dances we spent the evening walking around the shores and neighbourhoods of North Bay.

Here is just a small taste from the evening, more to come. Click on any of the images to view each of them in a larger format.North Bay Ontario Wedding Photographer

This was such a neat Engagement Session. Although these two are getting married in February  in Toronto they wanted their Engagement Session shot up near North Bay. Paul’s family owns an old Hunting Lodge in Martin River. It’s such a cool place, so much history. After getting just a little bit lost I finally found them at the cabin. Paul’s dad chauffeured us all over the (what seemed to be a very private) lake, giving us lost of opportunity to take advantage of the dramatic weather. Tarron and Francesco are hilarious! Such a riot to photograph…

As so often happens couples wonder what the heck they’re suppose to do in front of the camera. It didn’t take Francesco very long to figure it out. They were fantastic. I’d like to hire him to coach some of my grooms through our sessions. I’m not one for the contrived posed stuff, making these two perfect clients.

We weren’t too sure about the weather, but we ventured to the cottage on Trout Lake in North Bay anyways. We were fine, the lake was great, the island was beautiful, and we even got a few shots in the boat on the way back from the island. Then off to cottage number two on Lake Nipissing. It was all fantastic, even that last bit in the rain. Can’t wait to photograph their North Bay Cottage wedding in June next year.

A few weeks ago Megan contacted me all the way from BC. Originally from North Bay her and her husband now live in Fort St James, BC. As a “Welcome to the World” (her daughter is 8 months) and “Happy Birthday” (her mother’s Birthday) gift she asked me to spend an afternoon shooting with her, 2 sisters, 2 husbands, an 8th months old, and a Grandma and Grandpa.

We had never met before, just spent a week or so emailing details back and forth. The Woods welcomed me into their home with open arms, they were very sweet. This shoot was a little different than the others I’ve done. The Woods were a formal group very much connected to their history. Walking into their 100 year old home was like visiting a museum. We spent about an hour shooting some very traditional posses and chatting about their families history in North Bay. Over a 3.5 hour period we shot a few hundred images. It was lots of fun and a bit of an eye opening experience! Truth is so much excited energy was centred around Isabelle, who is 8 months old and the first Grandchild. Here are some of my favourite shots….as usual more can be seen here, on facebook.

WOW! Had an awesome time this week at our Video Production course. The Near North Mobile Media Lab out of North Bay (N2M2L fan page), Ontario came to South River for the day and taught us everything they possibly could about Vid Prod in 2 short days. We were split in 2 groups and charged with the task of making a little commercial. Ours turned into a 2 minute fiasco about the Spirits of South River. We had a blast and I learned a tonne form Lieanne and Holly. They were great. Looking forward to some v creative partnerships in the near future.
