I recently took a little road trip to Kingston with the purpose of meeting and photographing new borns, Mary Jo and Beatrix. It was wonderful. These perfect little twins are…well perfect. I was lucky enough to spend the night and shoot all day on Monday. Between naps, feedings, and changes were shot for 5 hours. It was a great way to work. Sleepover parties with babies, parents, and great dinners are totally up my alley, FYI.

Thanks Matt and Susan for the visit and the chance to capture these beautiful images. Your babies made my job easy and it was wonderful to finally meet them both.

P.S. This is post one of two…we took a lot of photographs. Stay tuned. To view the entire first half of the album visit smugmug, http://katehood.smugmug.com/Family/Mary-Jo-and-Beatrix

{Casey and Bridget, Birthday Ballerinas}

What a ball this was! Two beautiful birthday ballerinas, some two-twos, four leg warmers, plus the excitement of turning 20…so fun. Patti, the momma arranged this Birthday Photo Session for her twins. They were all super enthusiastic and apparently spent the evening before making new two-twos (which were fabulous, by the way). It was a bit of a bitter sweet day…if you’ve ever enjoyed Ontario’s cottage country around this time of year you’ll know black flies are vicious in May. Well, yesterday was cold, very cold and a little windy. This meant that we could dance and shoot with no buggies for hours, problem was dancing and shooting requires being half naked, which also means my beautiful birthday ballerinas were a little chilly. All in all they held up very well. The trilliums were out, the twins were psyched, and the new Mark II rocked it (p.s. I bought my dream camera last Wednesday between photo shoots in North Bay). Here are some shots of the afternoon. As usual to view more visit my FB fan page, http://www.facebook.com/pages/Sundridge-ON/Kate-Hood-Inc/29010349933.

{Graduate in Style, 2/3}

Dawn and I had a blast shooting this Graduation series. I think at one point I said “I could shoot this all night”. Her response was “I could pose all night”. That is the most fabulous thing about shooting teenagers, they can pose forever! I loved it. I always knew Graduation Photography would be a blast, the drama and excitement young men and women exude is incredible. Their willingness to indulge in themselves and the moment, its something I wish I could teach every subject in the snap of my fingers or the click of a shutter. With Dawn there was nothing to teach, she was just in the moment. Avoiding homework, playing in the Barbie Jeep, in her Grandfather’s Corvette, and in the middle of the night no less. I hope I can do this again and again…perhaps in a few years with her equally as beautiful younger sister Holly. Between now and then though, I’m offering 2009 High school, College, and Uni grads a $250.00 {Graduate in Style} package. An opportunity to capture the drama of a last year with style and grace.

Here’s to Dawn in that fabulous puffy pink and white thang and to high school graduation! What a ride she’s in for.
