I cannot believe I have not yet blogged about Charlotte and Jon’s Port Carling wedding! We shot their wedding back in September (so much back posting still to do). We loved this wedding so much. Sooooo much. Truly, these two young lovers were two of my favourite people to see wed. We witnessed so much love and support between them and their families, it was moving. The kind of love these two must have felt on their wedding day is the kind every young couple should be held by.

We were lucky to have been chosen by them to shoot this weeding. Thank you, Jon and Char.

And P.S. they all danced down the aisle to a sweet Micheal Jackson tune. Check out their video on Facebook!

And P.P.S. Some of these photos require a little explanation…rockin’ out in church to M.J., Riding your bike in a suit with a broken foot, Munching on snacks, in the car, because you’re starving after getting married, Leading an ’80’s workout video with the rest of your table ’cause Jon and Char asked you too, and finally Being utterly embarassed by your big sister’s stories of your love for large soulful women!

Such a great wedding.

Ah, like a breath of fresh air. Both working with my dear friend Wendy and shooting in this beautiful home. A special thanks to Wendy’s great friend Tracey (I will be painting ALL of my house white next month…not joke). Wendy and I are in the process of building her website, print material, and general online fabulousness. This was one of many yoga shoots we have on the go. Here we focused on mom and baby yoga as well as partnered yoga. In fact she’ll be hosting a Valentine’s Day weekend yoga retreat on the edge of Algonquin Park.

I so look forward to working with Wendy. She continue to challenge and inspire me. Look forward to our next project; Yoga Ed.

Love to you dear Wendy. I look forward to many, many more.

I first met Megan a year ago when both of us attended a workshop in Sudbury. At the time I was working for a little Eco-Retreat centre on the edge of Algonquin Park and she was working for a similar company on Lake Superior. It was just a few month later she told us she was getting married and looking all over the place for the most fantastic place to be married. Megan and Paul knew they were looking for something small, northern, and lakeside for their wedding. I knew immediately the Northridge Inn in Sundridge was the perfect place (one of our favourite locations for weddings, great meals, and a little overnight stay).

This wedding was a gathering from all over the map…Paul, Megan and friends coming south from Wawa and great family and friends from down-under. It was clear to Jay and I from the moment we met Megan and Paul they were a different kind of couple. Both of them so modest and full of excitement about the day…and a great sense of how to make a northern fall wedding day all their own. From the moments Megan practiced her first dance early in the day, to the handmade Thank You gifts, to the felted hiking mice atop their wedding cheese cake (an actual cheese cake). This day was all their own. We loved shooting this wedding and just wish we had a little more time to spend getting to know Megan, Paul, and their families.

We wish you both love and joy for years to come.

I am so excited about these images! I attended a workshop at Pikto in Toronto last weekend, “Ultimate Fashion Photography”. The one day long course was totally inspiring. Photographer, Josh Cornell (http://www.joshcornell.com) was such a generous teacher. He covered everything from working with agencies and models to business development, and of course we got in to some shooting. It was really nice having such a small class of photographers, just 9 of us. We each had an opportunity to work with the models (Jenn and Leigh) and get to know some of the in studio equipment. This is something I have little experience with being a wedding photographer in Muskoka, Ontario. I’m almost always shooting outdoors. And when we’re indoors we’ll use the on and off camera flash, and always take advantage of natural light. Controlling massive lights with reflectors, batteries, and umbrellas is a totally different ball game.

Following any photography workshop, whether Wedding Photography, Fashion or otherwise I leave with a new energy. Working with generous teachers and other talented photographers is inspiring. We’ve all got something to bring to the table and sharing experiences has become so valuable. Cheers to a new year in business, sharing ideas and inspiration!
