A perfect day with Cassie and her family. I was honoured when Cassie asked me to photograph a day with her new little one, husband and big sister – Cassie’s a photographer too – based in Parry Sound and that’s always a little daunting. Thank you for trusting me to do this for you, at home. 
Coming all way from the East Coast to Muskoka, it was fantastic meeting this sweet family. Baby V was a perfect little delight. I think it may be obvious, if you’re a regular blog visitor, but cuddling with little people all afternoon is absolutely one of my favourite things to do. I loved this Muskoka Cottage Session.
There are a couple of families on my ‘must shoot’ list. Here’s one of them. I met Deb and Martyn through business and our little families have grown quickly together. There are just a few people beyond my family that I’ve maintained such a connection with. From photographing the birth of baby J last year, to quiet afternoons of tears and breastfeeding, to last-minute daycare pick-ups and trading homes just to get a full nights sleep Deb and her fam have become our chosen family. My C and her E are best buds – in fact when my Charlie saw me editing this family session last night he asked where I was? Why wasn’t he there? And told me promptly he wanted to “go there now and see Deb and Maaaawtin”. We love this family dearly and are so lucky to be a part of their lives. We’ve been planning this family shoot for ages and when they decided to go camping on Eagle Lake in South River, near Algonquin Park (as a general reference) we knew it was our opportunity.
Thank you to my NEW second shooter/assistant Myranda, who came out with me, as she has to a number of sessions this season. I’m so proud of the progress she’s making. A few of these shots are hers and I’m thrilled to be including them here.

Grown up sisters… These relationships are special, so special and unique. Loving. Supportive… You know… But it would seem the combination of Muskoka cottage holidays, new husbands, wedding anniversaries, happy parents, a bossy photographer and a few cocktails throws families into a wild tail spin of shenanigans. This grown-up group was a pleasure to photograph. I’m not sure that I’ve said it recently but Cottage Sessions on the lake, any lake are really my favourite!
Love photographing big families! Northern cottage families are generally pretty happy people. This group was no different. Cheers to a summer full of Cottage Sessions!
