I had the opportunity to shoot the lovely Lucier Family over Easter weekend, then enjoyed a wonderful pot luck, and a Sauna later that evening. I work for this family a couple of days a week helping run their EcoLodge (Northern Edge Algonquin) on the edge Algonquin Park, Ontario. Friday Martha, one of the co-founders asked if I would do a little Family Photo Shoot while the whole clan was home for Easter. “Of course I would” I said. I solicited a little help from Aiden, who is 4. I gave him my P&S, a quick lesson, and he was off (Aiden’s full Facebook album). His photography is much more interesting than mine. Like some of the most famous photographers in the world, without thinking he just took the picture.

As I’ve already mentioned my sister and fiance have been home from Nunavut for a couple of weeks. Well last eve we had a nice little party, caught up with some old friends and made some new plans. This morning the group of us ventured to the East Shore of Lake Bernard to visit our old stomping ground. My sister and I, her fiance, and my husband have all worked at the “Girls Camp” at some point over the past years. It’s rare we get a glimpse into the secret winter life of camp. It’s such a treat to walk through the property. The owner and “groundskeeper” (for lack of a better term) have remained true to the camps mission of living lightly. I had the honour of running their Earth Education program for two years (see image below). GBC is such a forward thinking company, the time, energy, and planning they’ve put into creating a “green living” experience for campers is commendable.

Here are a few shots of the afternoon…As a side note I’ve really enjoyed taking picture just for the sake of shooting. It’s been a little while.

Over Christmas my BFF got a beautiful new SONY SLR and we’ve been out shooting all around town. Today Naomi and her daughter came to our house and we worked with a few settings, talked about ISO and internal metering. She’s rockin’ it! I think she’ll even help me out with a few Wedding Photo Shoots. Before she knows it she’ll be a regular Muskoka Wedding Photographer.

Here are a few of my shots form the day. This is her daughter (my muse), McKinlee.

Had a lot of fun shooting these two silly sister just before Christmas. Their momma, a friend and coleage asked me to take a few shots as a gift for their dad. I snuck over one afternoon and did a mini sister shoot in their front yard. Both women are silly, funny, dramatic actors/dancers. It was the most fun I’ve had shooting in such a short period of time. Take a peek…

OK, it’s not THAT cold. It’s not -50…my poor sister is facing -50 in Rankin Inlet. In Sunny Sundridge we are only faced with -20. That is cold enough to cancel a photo shoot, though. The camera could have made it, but the subjects are another story. I spent the weekend at our family cottage on the North shore of Lake Bernard. Sunday morning we ventured South toward the lake. We didn’t last too long but we did take some lovely pictures for my sister, who, as I mentioned previously is in Rankin Inlet.
