We have such awesome memories of this wedding day! My associate (thank you Liz!) Liz Lott of Snapdragon Photography recently said “I seriously think I developed new smile lines that day!” It’s not often that I get to shoot near Parry Sound, but I’m thrilled when I do – and a wedding day at the The Ridge at Manitou is a pretty spectacular event. I have some dedicated favourites in cottage country, The Ridge at Manitou is one. I really can’t say enough about this venue and the staff! Amanda and Scott were equally delightful to shoot. This was a day filled with humour, from all over the world, in fact – fancy fascinators included. When Amanda explained to her family that the Canadian wedding was going to have a laid back cottage feel they were a little confused. If you’ve ever been to the Lakes District in England you’ll know that “laid back cottage” – the way it’s done here in Ontario is very different from the posh vacation culture in the UK. It wasn’t really as if these two had a choice, however. Getting married at The Ridge at Manitou was obvious. Years earlier Amanda and Scott actually met here. Scott was a golf pro and Amanda worked at the Inn, when it was in operation. After years of living and travelling together they finally settled back in Canada. Cheer to you both!
One of the loveliest “getting readies” I’ve ever had the pleasure of shooting. This is for Renee…
Working on a Monday night doesn’t get much sweeter than this. Alexa and Adrian came into my life quickly and it was a delightful surprise. I’ll be shooting their Muskoka Destination Wedding Thanksgiving weekend at the Northridge Inn (here in my sunny little town of Sundridge). I learned so much about Alexa, Adrian and their families in the short time we spent together last week. Turns out we have just a few things in common…made me giggle. As Alexa and I chatted about wedding details, contracts, and an engagement session I asked her “so, what do you guys do in the evenings at the cottage?”…after she listed a few lovely family activities she mentioned she’d be going for a swim later that night. I knew right away what I wanted to do with her and Adrian! As you’ll can see they were willing participants and totally embraced the experience. Thanks for finding me, you two! And double thanks for indulging in a little after dinner swimming! See you next at your romantic Northridge Inn wedding…in just a couple of months!!! I’m excited!
I was so flippin’ thrilled to photograph this day for them. I’m not even sure what to tell you. I think by the images you’ll be able to see how passionate I was about this wedding and this beautiful couple. I’ve worked with the Hatleys many times (I shot Michael’s sister’ wedding, 2 of her friends weddings, a colleagues wedding, their families, their neighbours…) and seeing so many familiar faces at Michael and Joël’s Lumina Resort wedding made this day even more spectacular. Instead of me rambling on about this AWESOME day I will leave you with just a few words. LOVED IT!
Glorious dresses. Midnight messes. And everything in between. Your wedding makes me want to do this job forever and ever and ever.
Cheers to you both, sweet Michael and Joël. You both have a very special place in my heart, on the dance floor of my dreams, and now a gigantic place on my blog. See you very, very, very soon for a night of food, drinks, and pretty wedding pictures on the big screen. xoxoxo
A few big fat wedding day “Thank Yous”, Lumina Resort on Lake of Bays – how I love your nostalgic details and low slung ceilings. In Carnations, you crazy florists, you! I’m always thrilled to see you girls at a wedding and shoot your work. All of you INSANE guests who partied well past bedtime, showed me why I love the dance floor so much, and gave me some of the best party pictures I’ve ever shot. And lastly to my super, awesome, always thrilling, never disappointing second shooter, Dave Sloan. Love having him with me and love editing his work. He teaches me something about light every time we shoot together.
Michael, who happens to be a talented designer (FYI she was a contestant on Runway Canada!!!! WHAT! I KNOW, RIGHT!) slipped out the door and into her party dress.Meanwhile back at the ranch Joél was hosting a great party.
