Deb & Co.//Muskoka Family Photographer

You know you have those days. Those days (and I don’t have them often) when it feels like you’re faced with one stumble after another. Your heart sinks deeper and deeper into your chest because things just aren’t going right? I had that day today. It was an office day. All I wanted to do was jump out of my chair, get as far away from my desktop as I could, grab my camera and shoot something! Something that would make me happy. Something that would make me giggle. I wanted to smile! I wanted to laugh. Today, in my office there was NOTHING to laugh about.

Luckily!!! It all turned around. At 530 I kissed my boys goodbye and fled the house. Camera bag in tow, tank full of gas, I pumped something top 40-ish and sang my way to Deb and Martin’s house. I smiled, I felt light hearted, and I took photographs of Deb’s beautiful family. It was a perfect way to end the day. I was met with a baby kiss. I got to snuggle Ethan (who is the same age as my Charlie), and I had the pleasure of watching Deb’s baby belly roll around.

I really am fortunate to do what makes me happy. Not just generally happy but REALLY happy. Taking pictures actually changes my mood. Thank you Deb, Martin, and Ethan for turning my grumpy office day frown into a glorious smile. From now on I will come to your house with my camera every time I feel down! xoxox

PS This is just a very small piece of our time together. I wanted to let Deb and Martin know how much I enjoyed my time with them today. I also just sent her a text…same message, fewer words.

Toni’s Portraits//Ottawa Wedding Photographers

This year I’m shooting for two women I went to college with. I’ve known these women for 10 years and have reconnected with then each through facebook. The irony of it all is that I did not go to college for photography. I studied environmental management and science for seven years (SEVEN). Two college diplomas and a degree later…now I take a pictures for a living. My mom reminds of this occasionally. I digress, I very much admire both of these women, who are intelligent, successful, dedicated individuals. Here is Toni. Getting married this fall in Ottawa, in a forest, beside a sugar shack with 15 of the people she loves most in life.

I was due for another visit to the farm before the wedding and thought her and I should get out shooting just for fun. This is the first engagement session I’ve shot with just one half of the couple. Fun.

Charley//Brampton Family Photographers

This is Charlotte, Charley as her family calls her (as a side note she was very curious about my little Charlie who she eventually met. He followed her around saying “hi” and “uppy”. Needless to say she was not impressed). She’s come all the way from Rankin Inlet to the big city. C and I hung out at the park for a couple of hours. It was a perfectly sunny afternoon. I think we took full advantage of the sun…and heat. This is a sneak peek just for her momma, who I KNOW is dying to see how our afternoon went. I get to shoot with this little one again on Sunday…

Michael and Joel//North Bay eSession

I can’t even begin to express how much shooting Michael’s engagement session and wedding day (at Lumina Resort on Lake of Bays) means to me. I’ve know her for a few years now and her sister’s wedding (my first of many at Port Cunnington Lodge) was one I shot very early on. She has been a great supporter of mine ever since! And this summer not only am I shooting with Michael and Joel but I’m photographing one of Michael’s best friends weddings (at Hidden Valley in Huntsville). I’m just so happy to involved in Michael and Joel’s wedding day! I’ve gotten to know so many of the people close to Michael but haven’t had the chance to shoot with her yet (you can imagine my anticipation around shooting these two…those smiles…the pair of them are pretty happy -gorgeous people!). The engagement session was a perfect opportunity. After spending some time hanging out on their couch, chatting about wedding details and outdoor first dances we spent the evening walking around the shores and neighbourhoods of North Bay.

Janette and Brennan//Toronto eSession

This is Janette and Brennan. I went to college with both of them (not for photography but for environmental science…Janette however did go to school for photography!) and Janette was the first person to introduce me to the darkroom and photography as more than just a hobby. Of Leah and Keegan:Part 4//Port Cunnington Lodge Weddings

And then, after all of that they were married. “A Port Cunnington Lodge Wedding” with all the people they loved most, all of their best friends. Their emotional waterfront ceremony was followed by dinner in the lodge, a dramatic chinese lantern display, and a first dance.

It’s a good wedding day when you get to shoot bridal portraits at Port Cunnington Lodge, in this weather, with these two. Leah and Keegan wanted to do a “first look” before the ceremony, as well as their portraits. It was perfect. A first look is always a great opportunity to shoot. Both Leah and Keegan were so excited to see each other and their reactions are priceless.
